Robert Dobbin's Penguin 'Discourses and Selected Writings' is the most readable way in — but it's a selection: some of Books III–IV are cut as repetitive. Perfect for a first encounter; not the one if you want every word.

Robin Waterfield's 2022 complete translation is the freshest, and one scholar rates it the best of all. The newest option if you want current scholarship and the whole text.

George Long's 19th-century translation (and Elizabeth Carter's older one) are public domain and free — including the famous Handbook opening, 'Some things are in our power and others are not.' Dated English, but free and complete.
